Kirkman Herbal Sleep Aid is comprised of four main herbal ingredients:
- Lemon Balm (or Melissa officinalis) is a member of the mint family that has been used as far back as the Middle Ages to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep, improve appetite, and ease pain and discomfort from occassional indigestion.1 Several studies show that lemon balm combined with other calming herbs helps reduce occassional anxiety and promote sleep.2
- Chamomile is one of the most ancient medicinal herbs known to mankind. It is commonly used for many human ailments such as hay fever, inflammation, muscle spasms, menstrual disorders, insomnia, ulcers, wounds, gastrointestinal disorders, rheumatic pain, and hemorrhoids.3 For centuries, people have used chamomile for its calming qualities.
- Passionflower (also known as maypop) is considered to be a natural sleep remedy and sedative. The chemicals in passionflower have calming effects. Some people also take passionflower for sleeplessness, stress, pain, and many other conditions.4
- Chinese skullcap contains baicalin which has been used for centuries to treat sleeplessness in traditional medicine practices.5
